Vodafone Group Plc is a multinational mobile and landline telephone company based in London. It was created in 1984 as a subsidiary of another telecommunications company, Racal Electronics Plc.
In September 1991 the company distances itself from Racal Electronics Plc and definitively becoming Vodafone Group Plc. In the following years the group acquired mobile operators or holdings all over the world, including the purchase of Omnitel (OPI Omnitel Pronto Italia S.p.A.).
Today Vodafone has holdings in 25 countries, 16 of which operate under its own brand.
