A lighting system for Final Approach and Take-Off (FATO) area must be present in every heliport where night operations are conducted.
FATO lighting system is composed by white omnidirectional lights located on the FATO boundaries: minimum of 10 lights for round areas (maximum distance between beacons must not exceed 5 meters) or minimum 4 lights for square areas (maximum distance between beacons must not exceed 50 meters). For elevated heliports where space is reduced, FATO and TLOF area may be coincidental, in this case only TLOF lights will be displayed.
